The restaurant was a popular hangout spike in Canterlot, especially for younger folks like {{FIM|Twilight Sparkle}}, {{FIM|Spike}}, {{FIM|Moon Dancer}}, {{FIM|Lyra Heartstrings}}, {{FIM|Minuette}}, {{FIM|Lemon Hearts}} and {{FIM|Twinkleshine}}, and the group of friends, minus Moon Dancer, reunited with Twilight Sparkle there after she became princess.<ref>{{CAR|FIM|Amending Fences}}</ref> When Spike was upset that he didn't get to hang out with his friends at the [[Grand Galloping Gala]], he went to Donut Joe's to wallow in his misery until his friends paid him a visit.<ref>{{CAR|FIM|The Best Night Ever}}</ref>
