Sunny Skies is the mayor of Hope Hollow and bridegroom of Petunia Petals.

History

The skies family has been the mayor of Hope Hollow for generations, as his grandfather was the mayor, and his father too. As a child, Sunny Skies very much admired his grandfather and father and hung several pictures of them in his inspiration room as an adult. Around this time, he fell madly in love with Petunia Petals. Despite raving about how his town as the "end of the rainbow", his mayorship was quite disastrous. In a desperate attempt to please his people at the annual Rainbow Festival, he used a Rainbow Generator like his grandfather, but the device failed, removing all the hope from the town, causing it to lose all of its color.

Sometime later, all the attractions in Hope Hollow faded, but Sunny Skies tried to make it look like they were still there. He hired a pony to pretend to be the Rainbow Trout and covered their Butterfly Garden in pictures of butterflies, but it obviously never worked the same. In an attempt to fix his towns problems, he sent an invite for the Rainbow Festival to Rainbow Dash, hoping she could fix it.

After the Mane Six crashed in his town, he got Torque Wrench to work on repairing their hot air balloon. He greeted the girls when he met them, but admitted that he "feared for the worst" when he saw their crash. Being nothing but polite and friendly, if jittery, he showed them around his town and its many underwhelming attractions until he finally broke down and told them why the town was so gray.

Sometime later, Twilight Sparkle found him in his inspiration room where he revealed to her that his memories never faded and his pictures remained in color. Twilight eventually discovered what caused the town to be gray and excitedly told Sunny that the reason the town became gray was because the lack of friendship and kindness between the residents. Once the residents began to reunite in their friendships, the town became colorful once again.

During the Rainbow Festival that followed, Sunny Skies proposed to Petunia Petals, who agreed to marry him.

Personal life

Being the mayor of Hope Hollow, Sunny Skies seems knows every citizen in his town and respects them all. He appears to be particularly well-acquainted with Torque Wrench, though the latter didn't seem to care much for him. During the last days of the hopeless spell of Hope Hollow, he spent his spare time writing a proposal speech for Petunia Petals and eventually asked her to marry him.

He was an admirer of Rainbow Dash and believed she cold solve his problems.

Personality

Sunny Skies is kindhearted, enthusiastic, caring, optimistic and energetic, but made others, mostly outsiders, tend to feel uncomfortable with his awkward disposition. He was very much in-love with Petunia Petals, stating that she was the one who gave his world color, and vice-versa she loved him back. He cared deeply for all of his citizens and tried to nurture their talents where he could, always praising them even if they themselves didn't care for their work, like with Torque Wrench.
