Flash animation

From Equestripedia, the Archives of Equestria!

Flash animation, or Abode Flash animation is a type of animation that became popular in the 21st century, though has existed since the 1990s.

History

The animation for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and its spin-off series, Equestria Girls uses the software, as it was quite when the series first came out in 2010 but has since fallen out o favor due to many critics and fans of cartoons considering Flash animation to look cheap and ugly. However, My Little Pony has, for the most part, avoided these criticisms due to having higher-than-average quality animation and simplistic art style, complementing the software used.

The most prominent benefit for Flash is its short animation cycle. Cartoons animated in Flash tend have shorter cycle to fully animate episodes, and episodes tend to be animated "in-house".
