Ponyville was a large town located in central Equestria, on the 'border' of Canterlot. Although relatively small in comparison to larger regional centers such as Manehattan, Fillydelphia and possibly even Appleloosa, Ponyville was among the most important settlements in Equestria, as it harbored the Mane Six, the protectors of the land. Being the location of the Castle of Friendship, Ponyville was one of the three settlements that contained Equestrian royalty, the others being Canterlot and the Crystal Empire.
Founded well in the past by the early members of the Apple family and grown by the business of Stinkin' Rich, Ponyville's history is both rich and humble, capable of captivating even the most jaded of foals. The history of the town was indeed filled with many tragedies such as the fate of Pear Butter and Bright Mac, but was filled with many great events as well.
A cultural center, Ponyville was notable for containing many events and festivals, some local ones included the Sisterhooves Social, Running of the Leaves and the Summer Wrap Up Festival, as well as many national Equestrian events, such as Winter Wrap Up and Hearths Warming Eve. Quite a few celebrities called Ponyville their home too, such as the musician duo Vinyl Scratch and Octavia Melody, and the tennis star, Ace Point. Probably seen as a more rural and relaxing retreat by many cityfolk, a notable amount of ponies from Canterlot have moved to Ponyville, such as Lyra Heartstrings.
Although the quality of life in Ponyville was generally quite fantastic, with the majority of ponies living happy lives, it was far from the serene paradise that it may originally appear to many. Homelessness was a problem in the town, with at least one homeless family living in a small, makeshift shed and basic petty crimes such as theft weren't unheard of. Due to the presence of the Mane Six, the town was quite chaotic too, often the target of monsters, villains, or disasters brought upon by the carelessness of their heroes. These constant invasions eventually caused the townsfolk to become jaded however, deciding to live their own lives in spite of the constant danger as if nothing happened.

- Hayburger: A common place for quick lunch, the Hayburger is a burger place in Ponyville that sells a variety of foods, such as the aforementioned burgers and fries.
- Clover Café: A café also used for lunches, the Clover Café may have been considered more "high brow" than places such as the Hayburger, as its waiter was a snooty and rude fellow. Their only known food was Daffodil and Daisy Sandwiches, though they most likely served more.
- Food King: Seemingly more of a market than a restaurant, Food King sold produce foods.
