David Wise (February 3, 1955 - March 3, 2020) was an American writer of television shows, famed for his work on Star Trek: The Animated Series, The Transformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He was tutored in the craft by Ursula K. Le Guin, Frank Herbert, Harlan Ellison and Theodore Sturgeon.

A popular writer at the time, Wise was asked to join the My Little Pony writing team and penned 5 episodes. Though he remarked that the process wasn't 'particularly memorable' for the most part, he had great memories of writing "The Prince and the Ponies" due to its darker subject matter and themes of child psychology. Years later, Wise would say he loved what My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic did, saying it was the best flash animated show he's ever had and thought the brony movement was 'adorable'.[1]

Wise would pass away in March 2020 due to a brief battle with lung cancer. He was survived by his wife, who was his frequent collaborator.
